Keren Kroul examines identity through time, memory, and place, in large-scale watercolor works on paper and immersive installations.
Born in Haifa, Israel, to an Argentinean father and Israeli mother, Keren grew up in Mexico City, Mexico and San José, Costa Rica. An educator and a visual artist, Keren teaches painting, drawing, and art history at the high school and college level.
Keren exhibits nationally, and has received support from private and state foundations, including: the McKnight Foundation (2023 McKnight Foundation Visual Artist Fellowship, 2021 Next Step Fund Grant), the Minnesota State Arts Board (2023, 2022, 2021 Creative Support for Individuals Grants; 2019, 2017, 2015 Artist Initiative Grants), and the Jerome Foundation (2017 Emerging Artist Exhibition Grant). Her work has been featured on television in MN Original (TPT-Twin Cities PBS), and in print publications including Paint Lab, Color Lab, Tangled Art and New American Paintings.
Keren holds a BA in Fine Arts from Brandeis University (Waltham, MA) and an MFA in Painting from Parsons School of Design (New York, NY).
In summer 2025 Keren will be a visiting resident artist at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago.
